Just know that while there is some continuity between episodes, you can't trust the episode order. Nickelodeon really fucked that up, particularly in season two (three?) with the "kung fu is banned" plot. Ignoring how stupid that plot is considering the second movie, it's hard to tell which episode starts it and which episode ends it. But kung fu is banned in several episodes.

They mention an emperor in the show. I think the first episode deals with the emperor's relative. But some official from the government bans kung fu and Master Shifu is powerless to stop it.

And again, this was after Shen tried to put an end to kung fu. So... it really makes no sense. Just roll with it. That midnight stranger episode people mentioned in the other thread was one of the episodes that took place while kung fu was banned.

Man, that episode really made Tigress look bad. Po beat her at everything, and in her attempt to prove herself, she ends up setting things in motion that unleashes an ancient evil. And in the end, it's her acceptance that Po will always be better than her in feats of skill and strength that save the day. I mean, shit. That and the road trip episode pissed me off.

No. Royal characters have been pigs and birds, so it's hard to tell. There's a two-part special called "Emperor's Rule" that is being made for season three, but again, it's really hard to tell when or if Nickelodeon will air them. They could be holding them for 2015 for all I know to try to promote the movie. I don't know what contractual obligations they have with DreamWorks.

I'd say about 60% of the episodes are watchable. Most of the spotlight is split between Po, Tigress, and Monkey. Most of the crap is in the first season.

There are times when it's cheesier than the movies but it has an interesting sense of continuity.
